A Free Virtual Community of Practice for Faculty in Colorado's Educator Preparation Programs

The Colorado Department of Education is offering a free virtual Community of Practice to all faculty in Colorado’s Educator Preparation Programs. Participants will leave each session with resources to immediately integrate into courses.
The goals include:
- applying the science of reading to coursework and fieldwork
- engaging in networking across programs
- supporting the preparation of Colorado educators to implement the READ Act
Each month, participants will receive new information, engage in discussion, and integrate new ideas into coursework and fieldwork.
Topics include:
- The foundations of reading
- The five essential early literacy skills
- Assessment, intervention, and reading disabilities
- Partnering with local schools for fieldwork and practicum
- Engaging with colleagues and administrators
- Using evidence-based practices in coursework outside of reading
Meetings will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 pm Mountain Time on the following dates:
- January 21
- February 18
- March 18
- April 22
- May 20
- September TBD
- October TBD
